Nothing breaks my heart more than knowing that your 7 month old baby is missing most milestones. he either sits in a chair 50% of the time or on his back other than him practicing tummy time #hypotonia #hypotoniababy #hypotoniaawareness #develpmentaldelay #developmentallydelayed #boys #missedmilestones #neurology #genetics #poorbaby

Lucas stimmed constantly since 7 months old by flicking objects which prevented him from ever making long enough eye contact to learn social or independent skills. A huge thanks to our ABA for helping him overcome his stimming so that he can enjoy his life. Please consider ABA for your child in need. It has developed into an impactful play based approach. #CapCut #autism #aba #stimming

Looking back now, the biggest sign for us was regression. She had words from around 7 months old, babbled constantly, was physically always on the move, learning animals, building towers and naturally progressing in the way you expect your baby to. Then around 15 months, things slowly started changing. Words disappeared. Communication changed. Skills she’d had before weren’t as consistent anymore. It felt like development had suddenly paused… and in some ways gone backwards. At the time, I couldn’t explain it why? I put it down to being tired, growing, poorly until it didn’t come back after a couple of weeks. That’s when I honestly, I just knew something felt different. Later on, a paediatrician described it as autistic regression. One of the hardest parts of motherhood is trusting your instincts before you have language for what you’re seeing 🤍 Research suggests around one-third of autistic children experience some form of developmental regression, often between 15–24 months, involving loss of previously acquired language or social skills. #autismsigns #autisticregression #asdjourney #sendmum #autismawareness

On Saturday I noticed Cooper (7 months old) having unusual full body jerks which we now know are seizures, I recorded all of them for the following days but was on the fence about whether I needed to take him to hospital for this or not. After tests and assessments he has been diagnosed with infantile spasms (epilepsy). This was caused by swelling on his brain and the condition can cause brain damage and slowed development if left untreated. If left for long enough it can unfortunately be fatal. What I initially thought was him having harmless muscle spasms was in fact an emergency. Always trust your gut, video document everything, and go to hospital! Don’t be afraid to go to emergency even if it turns out to be nothing. We’re lucky I caught it in the early days but please get your little ones checked out if you’re concerned in the slightest!! I wouldn’t typically like to post about Coopers health but I felt like this was a good opportunity to raise awareness #IS #infantilespasms #seizures #epilepsy #epilepsyawareness
